This step helps produce sheets with more stable dimensions and better surface uniformity. After pressing, the sheet is placed in a drying system, such as a drying cylinder or a flat drying plate, to remove the remaining moisture. Proper drying is necessary to achieve the final physical properties of the paper sample.

Laboratory paper making equipment offers several advantages. It enables precise control over experimental variables such as pulp concentration, drainage time, pressure, and drying temperature. This makes it possible to compare different fiber sources, chemical treatments, fillers, and sizing agents under standardized conditions. The equipment also helps reduce material consumption because only a small amount of pulp is needed for each test. In addition, the sheets produced are suitable for testing tensile strength, burst strength, tear resistance, thickness, brightness, smoothness, and other important paper properties.

It is particularly useful when developing new grades of paper or investigating how processing parameters influence final sheet quality. Because the process is repeatable, results from laboratory sheet making are valuable for both product development and production troubleshooting.

Many systems use stainless steel parts, digital controls, and standardized molds to improve accuracy and durability. Some models also support automatic water drainage, controlled pressing force, and programmable drying conditions.
