Rub Resistance Tester

    Rub Resistance Tester

The Rub Resistance Tester is a specialized device for evaluating the rub resistance of ink layers on decorative printed paper products. It uses a sector rubbing method to rub the test ink specimen, with the number of rubs read directly from a counter. Based on the number of rubs and the degree of wear, the rub resistance of the ink is evaluated. The instrument has a rubbing speed of 54 rubs/min, with three selectable loads: 250g, 500g, and 1000g. The test specimen size is 100×200mm, and the rubbing paper size is 50×220mm. The equipment is easy to operate, with a digital counter that can preset...

Product Introduction
The rub resistance tester operates on a sector reciprocating rubbing principle. A printed specimen of specified dimensions is fixed on the specimen table, and a standard rubbing paper is fixed on the rubbing head. Under a selected load, the rubbing head contacts the specimen surface smoothly and performs reciprocating sector rubbing. The equipment records the number of rubs via a counter and automatically stops when the preset number is reached. By observing the degree of wear or color transfer on the ink layer, the rub resistance of the ink is quantitatively evaluated. This test simulates the surface friction that printed products experience during handling, stacking, and use, making it an effective method for assessing ink adhesion and abrasion resistance.

Key Features
Standard Sector Rubbing Method Uses a sector reciprocating rubbing motion, simulating actual surface friction conditions for realistic test results.
Multiple Selectable Loads Provides three standard loads of 250g, 500g, and 1000g, meeting testing needs for different paper grammages and ink types.
Digital Counter Precise Control Equipped with a digital counter that can preset the number of rubs and stops automatically, offering intuitive operation and accurate data.
Standard Specimen Size Compatibility Test specimen size of 100×200mm and rubbing paper size of 50×220mm comply with relevant testing specifications.
Simple and Efficient Operation Specimens are fixed with side pressure plates, and the rubbing head is securely hooked, making installation easy and the testing process clear.
Automatic Stop, Safe and Reliable The equipment stops automatically when the preset number of rubs is reached, preventing over-rubbing; operation without specimen and rubbing paper is strictly prohibited, ensuring safety.
Robust and Durable Construction Weight of approximately 20kg with a sturdy body, suitable for long-term frequent use in laboratory and production environments.
Broad Industry Applicability Suitable for use by printing plants, ink manufacturers, and research departments for testing the rub resistance of ink layers on paper-based printed products.

FAQ
1. What materials are suitable for the Rub Resistance Tester?
It is primarily used for testing the rub resistance of ink layers on decorative printed paper products, and can also be used for abrasion resistance evaluation of other flat printed materials such as packaging paper, labels, and book covers.
2. How should the load (250g, 500g, 1000g) be selected?
Load selection should be based on the grammage of the printed material, ink type, and testing standard requirements. Generally, lightweight paper and regular inks use 250g, while thicker boards and special inks may require 500g or 1000g. Refer to applicable standards or customer requirements.
3. What are the specifications for the rubbing paper?
It is recommended to use clean 80g/㎡ copy paper or A4 white paper, cut into 50×220mm strips as rubbing paper. Ensure the rubbing paper surface is clean and free of impurities to avoid affecting test results.
4. How is the counter set and operated?
After turning on the power, use the setting device to set the desired number of rubs and wait 8 seconds for automatic saving. Press the test button to clear the count and start; the machine stops automatically when the preset number is reached. Press the test button again for the next test.

5. What safety precautions should be observed during use?
Never operate the machine without specimen and rubbing paper installed; if the rubbing paper or specimen breaks, stop the machine promptly; turn off the power after use and keep the equipment clean.
6. How are test results evaluated?
Rub resistance is evaluated by comparing the degree of ink layer wear and color transfer before and after rubbing, as well as the number of rubs required to reach a specified wear level. Specific evaluation criteria can follow industry standards or internal control indicators.

The rub resistance of ink is a critical quality indicator for printed materials, directly affecting the appearance retention and information legibility of printed products during use, handling, and storage. Decorative printed paper products such as packaging boxes, labels, and book covers are susceptible to ink wear or transfer during stacking and transportation, leading to blurred graphics or contamination. The rub resistance tester uses a standardized sector reciprocating rubbing test to simulate the actual surface friction that printed products experience, quantitatively evaluating the adhesion and abrasion resistance of the ink layer. This test helps ink manufacturers optimize formulations and assists printing companies in selecting appropriate ink-paper combinations, which is of significant importance for improving printed product quality and customer satisfaction. With the increasing quality demands of the packaging and printing industry, the rub resistance tester has become a fundamental piece of equipment for quality control in the printing and ink industries.
