Product Introduction
The Paper bursting strength tester operates on the hydraulic (glycerin) pressurization principle. An electric pump delivers liquid at a constant rate into a chamber beneath a rubber diaphragm clamped under the specimen. The diaphragm expands and pushes the specimen until it bursts. A high-precision pressure sensor captures the fluid pressure in real time; the maximum pressure recorded at the moment of rupture is the bursting strength. The instrument is controlled via a touchscreen, allowing users to set clamping pressure, monitor the test process, and display and store results. The pneumatic clamping mechanism ensures secure, uniform specimen holding, and the excellently sealed hydraulic system guarantees accurate and reliable data.

FAQ
1. What materials are suitable for bursting strength testing?
It is suitable for determining the bursting strength of various papers and paperboards, including kraft paper, corrugating medium, linerboard, and other packaging materials. Appropriate clamping pressure should be selected based on material grammage and thickness.
2. What is the advantage of pneumatic clamping over manual clamping?
Pneumatic clamping provides constant and uniform clamping force that is precisely adjustable and stable, avoiding specimen slippage or premature rupture caused by uneven manual clamping, significantly improving repeatability and accuracy.
3. Does the diaphragm need to be replaced periodically?
Yes. The diaphragm is a consumable part that may deform or age with repeated expansion over time. It should be replaced when its resistance exceeds the 25-35 kPa standard range or when visible deformation or damage occurs. Original replacement diaphragms are always available from our company.

4. How can I check if the hydraulic system sealing is normal?
The instrument has a self-check function. You can also observe the pressure drop within 1 minute. If the pressure drop is ≥10% Pmax, there may be a leak; check tubing connections and seals, and contact after-sales service if necessary.
5. Does the equipment require an external air supply?
Yes, it requires a clean compressed air supply adjustable between 0-1200 kPa to operate the pneumatic clamping system. A standard laboratory air compressor is usually sufficient.
6. What if the touchscreen malfunctions or is unresponsive?
First, check the power connection. If the problem persists, it may be a software issue or loose hardware connection. Contact our after-sales team for remote guidance or on-site inspection; do not disassemble the touchscreen module yourself.

Bursting strength is a fundamental measure of a paper or board's resistance to uniformly increasing pressure until rupture. It directly correlates with the ability of paper-based packaging, like cartons and boxes, to withstand internal and external forces during transport and stacking. The test is performed hydraulically, where a diaphragm expands against a clamped specimen, and the maximum pressure at rupture is recorded. Standards like ISO 2759 and GB/T 6545 define uniform test conditions—including pumping rate, clamping pressure, clamp dimensions, and diaphragm properties—to ensure inter-laboratory data comparability. Bursting strength is closely related to a box's overall compression resistance and is a critical parameter in box design, material selection, and supplier evaluation. Modern bursting strength testers use pneumatic clamping and intelligent touchscreen control, automating and standardizing the testing process. They are widely used for quality control and research in paper mills, converting plants, packaging testing agencies, and commodity inspection departments.
